Joe Mixan
Photographer Joe Mixan of Papillion has been photographing Nebraska Football for over twenty-years. Mixan began photographing games during his college days at NU.
The 1984 Gross Catholic graduate was a walk-on football player and graduated in 1988 with a BA from the UNL College of Journalism. Joe had the honor of being the NU Athletic Department photographer for the 1994, 1995 and 1997 Nebraska National Championship teams. Currently, Joe photographs for the BigRedReport.com website/magazine and he also does photographer/video for LegendsRadioShow.com. Joe is also serves as the creative director for the LegendsRadioShow.com website.
Joe Mixan’s Nebraska Football photos have been published in a wide variety of media, such as posters, books, magazines, calendars and now websites. Some of Joe’s posters include a Brook Berringer memorial, the rainbow over Memorial Stadium and Coach Tom Osborne hugging Jason Peter at the end of his final game in 1997.
Joe Mixan owns and operates Joe Mixan Photography at 446 N. Jefferson Street near Downtown Papillion, where he photographs seniors, weddings, families, commercial and business portraits. To stay sharp in all the latest digital technology, Joe works part-time at the Apple store at Village Point. Joe’s main job is with the City of Omaha, where he proudly serves as a firefighter. Joe is married to Suzana and they have three children.
